Laura Linney, best known for portraying strong, but fragile characters, is one of the most celebrated American actors of our times. Her mother was an unmarried single mother who worked as a nurse. Linney became interested in the theatre during summers spent with her father, who was famous. Her studies in acting were at Brown University, and later at Juilliard School. When she graduated at Brown University she began her Broadway debut soon afterward. After two years of that, her first film came out and the next year her TV debut. Innumerable appearances in movies, television shows as well as stage productions ever since. She received many accolades during her professional career, including several Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. The actress has received nominations for five Tony Awards, and three Academy Award nominations. However, despite her distinctions and awards, theater is her main interest and she is determined to perform on stage and screen.
