Nadia and Carol
Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej, now Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born on November 12, 1961. She was the first Romanian who scored a total of 10 at the Olympic sport. Bela Karolyi later Romanian Gymnastics Coach, came across Comaneci in the age of the age of six. The first time she competed at the national junior championships of 1969 and finished 13th. She was the winner in 1970. In her first international competition in 1972 a pre-Olympic junior meeting for communist countries she was awarded three gold medals and in 1973 and 1974 she was all-around junior champion. She beat the Russian Lyudmila Torishcheva, the five-time European champion, at her first international senior competition in the year 1975. In this event she took home four golds as well as a silver. She was the winner of the American Cup in New York City in 1976 becoming the first female to do the backward double salto in dismounting from the bar that is uneven. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. Her career began in entertainment during her teenage years when she appeared in the figure skating duo of her sister Nina Wayne for the travelling entertainment program Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne, born in Chicago Illinois US on 6 September 1942. Carol started her entertainment career in her teens. Her first job was as a figure skater, performing alongside her younger sibling Nina Wayne as part of the shows that traveled around that were known as Ice Capades. These were shows that featured ice skating performances that were accompanied by theatrical music.
