Gerina Stevenson, the Mexican child of Rita Stevenson Stevenson and Alan Stevenson Stevenson, is birthed in Mexico. She is Mexican roots, yet is American in nationality. Since the age of a child, she has had a strong determination to be involved in athletics. Gerina began golfing when she was 15 years of age. Gerina finished her high school studies in Goddard High School. She won an award at the New Mexico State Golf Tournament at the age of high school. She was a volleyball player and also competed in state competitions. In the year 2003 she enrolled at the University of Texas. In her senior year, she won every competition she competed in. While in her university career, she received the honor of being named Conference USA individual champion player of the year and the UTEP Female Athletics Player of the Year.
